Kharoah

You began

          A hope

          A wish

          A dream

We anticipated

          To see

          To hear

          To Touch

Together Enjoying

          Our baby

          Our miracle

          Our future

Family growing

          With love

          With joy

          With excitement

You remain

          Our hope

          Our wish

          Our dream

I know I haven't written anything on here in a while and it is partly because while babies don't come with owner's manuals, they do come with lots of classes. Mrs. Grotto and I have been going to many infant classes which have kept us really busy. Anyway, I wrote this during one of them. I really don't like the first line because it really needs three words, but that wouldn't fit the structure of the rest of the poem, but I haven't been able to think of anything better.

Nice...

And for what my critical comment is worth: I think the first line of the first stanza is mirrored nicely by the first line of the last stanza. Change one, and you have to change the other.

Very beautiful. Though, since you were apparently writing during class, I have no sympathy now if you don't know what to do with those diaper pins. :P

Baldy: I agree that the two reflect each other, but I was hoping for a better word choice because it seems forced as is. The hardest part of poetry is finding the right words to fit the format.

Kerri: I'll have you know that when it came time to diaper the baby I was told I had the best diaper in the class! Stupid sexist nurse didn't have the moms diaper only the dads. I think she was trying to give me praise so I'd be more responsive in class. I kept picking up the doll by its feet and didn't cradle and rock it like all the other parents. I am not overly fond of the headnurse and I think she knows it. Oh, and I'm sorta ADD so I have to be doing something else when I'm listening or else I don't get anything out of a lecture. I listen better if I'm actively doing something else. Don't know why, just is.

"I was told I had the best diaper in the class!" Someday, somewhere, I will quote you on that, and totally out of context. :) That is a bit sexist, as I know that there are many moms who've never held and cared for newborns.

You know, you may think that you will be able to embarrass me, but I doubt that you'll achieve it. I mean, who knows, I might actually be wearing one when you say that.

That's true. There's a good chance, being friends with who we are and all, that I may very well know you when we're 90.

Right, well, it may happen when I'm 90, but I may be wearing one right now. I mean, what wrong could it do? Why don't we wear them all the time? How much time is lost on trips to the bathroom? Hmmmm....
